- This grading scale will be used for all homework, classwork, projects, presentations, quizzes, tests and participation. Students are responsible for checking Skyward to determine progress.
- Any cheating or copying off someone else’s work will result in 0 points
- Make-up tests/quizzes are made up outside of class time, before or after school, within one week of EXCUSED absence. If your absence is UNEXCUSED, you will not be allowed to make up the test or quiz.
- For grade determination, a student’s quarter grade will be rounded to the nearest whole number. For example, if a student earns a 92.5% of the points possible in class, that is an A; 92.4% is a A-.
- There is no “extra credit” points available so do not ask. If I grant any additional points, it will be given to the entire class. I will not give extra points to individual students for any reason; again, don’t ask.
Assignments will be weighted as follows
- Tests and quizzes: 45%
- Classwork, homework and projects: 35%
- Participation: 20% (class discussions individually or in groups, daily starters, video notes/discussions, etc)
Late work policy and makeup work policy
- If your absence from school is EXCUSED, it is your responsibility to complete class assignments you may have missed. FIRST, check my weebly site calendar to see what you missed. Then download and print the missed assignments. Write down the date you were absent on your missed assignments.
- Assignments NOT turned in because of an excused absence are due THE DAY OF RETURN (eg. An assignment is due on Tuesday and you are absent due to illness. You come back to school on Thursday. Your assignment that was due Tuesday must be turned in on Thursday or it is late).
- For EXCUSED absences, students will need to submit work missed the next class period to receive full credit. If it is not turned in by the next class period, it will be marked late and there will be a minimum 25% deduction.
- I will accept late work up to 10 days after assignments are due, with a minimum 25% deduction.
- Work missed for UNEXCUSED or TRUANT absences will receive no credit.
Attendance policy
- All absences and tardies in excess count against a student’s academic record.
- The Copper Hills High School Attendance Policy will be enforced, allowing 2 absences and 3 tardies before receiving a “NO GRADE”. Please check the attendance policy for more information about this policy.
- Students with a “NO GRADE” (NG) will need to attend Attendance school at a cost of $5.00 per session. Once session will clear one absence or two tardies. Enough sessions should be attended to clear the students earned grade.
- Students are considered tardy if they are not in their seats when the tardy bell rings. Students who arrive fewer than 10 minutes late to class will be marked tardy (T). Students arriving more than 10 minutes late will be marked Way Late (WL). Way late counts the same as an absence.
Personal Electronics Statement
- Cell phones are to be turned off and put away, UNLESS otherwise directed by the teacher
- Use of I-Pods, MP3 players or any personal electronic device is not permitted during class time until ALL CLASSWORK IS COMPLETED.
